Daffodils (genus: Narcissus) synonymous with the coming of spring, are popular spring flowering perenials. They feature a trumpet shaped flower on a star shaped background of petals. In western societies, daffodils are associated with vanity where as in the east they are associated with wealth and good fortune.
Easily grown in pots and in clumps in the garden, daffodils are a favourite for beginner gardeners. Grown from seed, daffodils can take up to 5 years to produce a bloom however when grown from bulbs planted in the autumn gardeners can expect a bloom later in the spring.
Like most bulbs, don't over water and make sure they are planted in an area with good drainage.
